Bridgetown Capital of Barbados has a special charm about it

Bridgetown Capital of Barbados has held a fascination for me from the first time I visited it in the early 1970's. It still holds that same magical spell for me to this day.

The town was originally founded on July 5th 1628 and over its three hundred years of existence, this beautiful old city has amassed an impressive collection of historic buildings and landmarks.

Bridgetown, which is considered the heartbeat of this Caribbean island, is as famous for its wide variety of shopping areas and malls as for its bars, arcades and numerous Barbados restaurants where you can experience the taste of real Barbados food.

The Government of Barbados is currently carrying out a major redevelopment project for the city, which entails restoring historic landmarks and adding more trees.

Doing a tour around this 380 year old city is a favorite activity for many tourists and cruise ship passengers to the Island.
